SPEC History

Source Production & Equipment Company, Inc. (SPEC) is a leading manufacturer of industrial gamma radiography equipment and radioactive sources, and a distributor of many related radiography supplies for the nondestructive testing industry worldwide.

Originally founded in Kenner, Louisiana in 1974 by Dick Dicharry, SPEC now occupies two facilities in St. Rose, Louisiana to meet production, research, and development needs. Currently, more than twenty-five dedicated employees work together to meet the needs of industry under the leadership of President R.D. “Donny” Dicharry and Vice-President Kevin Schehr.

Our policy toward quality is to combine uncompromising design with state-of-the-art fabrication techniques. SPEC produces the safest and most reliable radiography equipment under auspices of a comprehensive Quality Assurance Program approved by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Durability, ease of maintenance and safety are the primary design criteria of all SPEC products.
